Secular Altruism is just what it sounds like: a non-religious philosophy of concern for the well-being of others. To the unenlightened, it may sound like an oxymoron, but, after all, isn't Buddhism a fine example of non-Theistic altruism? Another way to look at it, is it is Thomas Paine's long-sought revolution in religion that he expected would follow his revolution in politics which was to become the U.S.A. To say that we wish Secular Altruism were the de-facto standard, and to have a sound and complete philosophy of it, however, are two different things. This site is built to promote just such a philosophy.
